Biography

Dr. Shannon Burke graduated from Butler University with a degree in chemistry and Spanish. She then stayed in Indiana for a year and served as a medical scribe in the emergency department. This experience piqued her interest in the field of emergency medicine and started her down the path to where she is today.

Dr. Burke's interests in medical education grew throughout medical school at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. During residency at the University of Wisconsin, she worked within the program to create a residents-as-teachers curriculum. She was also active nationally, serving as a Vice Chair of the Education Committee for the Emergency Medicine Residents' Association (EMRA). Dr. Burke's fellowship year will be spent continuing to learn how to become a strong educator through both fellowship duties and a Master of Education online program through the University of Cincinnati.
