Biography

Dr. Ryan Tsuchida completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Michigan where he served as Chief Resident during his fourth year. While in residency he completed the Healthcare Administration Scholars Program and Community for Medical Educators in Training certificate programs. Dr. Tsuchida used this framework to develop diversity, equity and inclusion curriculums within his residency and the University of Michigan graduate medical education, at large. 

Dr. Tsuchida is faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin. He is the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Arno Kumagai Award for Excellence in Institutional Change to Promote Health Equity, Social Justice and Compassionate Care awarded by the University of Michigan Student Diversity Council. He also is the recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Future Academician Award, Academy for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Medicine, an SAEM Academy. Dr. Tsuchida was recruited to the University of Wisconsin to advance the department’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
