Biography

Dr. Ryan Thompson joined as faculty of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Department of Emergency Medicine where he also completed his residency training, serving as chief resident his final year. He went on to complete a fellowship in medical simulation with the department. He earned his medical degree at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY. His clinical sites include University Hospital, The American Center, and serving as a flight physician with UW Med Flight. He also serves as Medical Director for the UW Health Clinical Simulation Program, Director of Simulation Education for Dane County EMS, and as President of the Wisconsin chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (WACEP) from 2020-2021.

Dr. Thompson's research focus is on using simulation as a tool for both teaching and assessment, and he is also interested in quality improvement and resident education. His personal interests including sailing, traveling, tennis, and his beloved Buffalo Bills.
