Dr. Brian Sharp named UW Health Patient Safety Officer

As of February 1, 2020 Brian Sharp, MD will assume the role as the new Patient Safety Officer for UW Health.

In his new role Dr. Sharp will serve as the physician leader responsible for UW Health’s patient safety efforts. He will work collaboratively with Lori Haack, Director Patient Safety to improve patient safety as we strive for zero patient harm as well as collaborate closely with the patient relations team in addressing patient and families concerns about quality and safety of care.

Dr. Sharp completed medical school at Loyola University and his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Michigan. While at Michigan he served as chief resident and completed a graduate medical education scholars program in healthcare administration. Sharp came to UW Health in 2012 and is a graduate of the UW Health Physician Leadership Development Program.

Sharp has served in many leadership roles within the Department of Emergency Medicine including Assistant Clinical Services Chief, Director of Quality, Interim Associate Program Director, Medical Director of the American Center Emergency Department and most recently Associate Vice Chair of Quality for the Department of Emergency Medicine.
