Life in Madison

We recommend that first time visitors to Madison spend their afternoons and evenings downtown.  You can easily take a Madison Metro or Campus Transit bus to the downtown and UW campus area. You should consider starting out after your interviews at Memorial Union – relax a bit in the Rathskellar – then wander down State Street toward the Capitol Square and have a bite or a taste of the local brew!  If you make it all the way around the square, make sure to visit the Capitol, the Monona Terrace and local establishments such as the Essen Haus and the Great Dane Brewpub!  You can hardly go wrong in downtown Madison.  In choosing a residency it is important to consider the community in which you will live and spend time away from work, and Madison has few peers.  Come see for yourself!  The following represent just a fraction of the accolades Madison has recently received in the national press:
